Reducing Cost, Increasing Sustainability and Reaching Scale Using Growth Factors Derived from Barley Seeds
About the Session
Cellular agriculture and cultivated meat may have a promising future as a sustainable source for animal proteins. Although the technology is developing fast, there are some major hurdles that needs to be solved, including the demand for low-cost animal growth factors on industrial scale. ORF Genetics has developed a technology to manufacture high-quality animal growth factors in bioengineered barley seeds for cellular agriculture. Using the barley seed as a GRAS-certified bioreactor for animal growth factors has many advantages including scalability with cost reduction, as well as security of supply.
