Cultivated fish presents a path to a sustainable seafood future and can provide consumers with fish free from antibiotics, heavy metals, and microplastics. However, successfully commercializing cultivated fish will require the industry to adapt infrastructure and processes that were originally developed for mammalian cell culture and to overcome a number of technical hurdles in scaling up manufacturing.
