The Protein Problem: How Scaling Alternative Proteins Can Help People and Planet
About the Session
Innovations in food and agricultural technologies present a chance to diversify our sources of protein with more sustainable products like plant-based, microorganism-based and cultivated meat. But despite huge progress, alternative proteins currently only make up about 1% of the protein market. Policymakers are needed to address obstacles such as R&D funding, training, investment in manufacturing capabilities, and regulation. How should policymakers approach this? What does the private sector need to know?
