Parendi Birdie

Parendi Birdie has been at the forefront of the cultivated meat industry since 2013. She has contributed to the industry’s growth as a scientist, investor, and volunteer. She is currently the Head of Strategic Partnerships at Mission Barns, a leading cultivated meat company based in San Francisco. Previously, she worked as a Cellular Agriculture Research Associate at JUST. She has a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Kansas. Kris is the Founder of the Cellular Agriculture Society. CAS is a nonprofit working on public education of CellAg, including cultivated meat (meat made from cells instead of farm animals). CAS has developed award-winning educational material and is currently creating the world's first textbook on cultivated meat. Kris was one of the early pioneers of the concept, involved in the cultivated meat space since the early 2010s. He has been fortunate to give the first talks on cellular agriculture at places like Google, Harvard, Stanford, City University of London, Texas A&M, and MIT; likewise, Kris and his work have helped to establish the field of CellAg, being featured and quoted in the Financial Times, Washington Post, Science, Harvard Innovation Lab, MIT Tech Review, Forbes, San Francisco Chronicle, ABC Australia.
