About the Session

"Alternative proteins” may, in certain cases, require authorisation before they can be placed on the EU market as novel foods. EFSA is responsible for assessing the safety of such products.
It is therefore essential that operators involved in the development and production of these products are well informed about the applicable procedures and requirements for applications for authorisation, so they are fully prepared and equipped to submit high-quality applications.

In this talk, EFSA will guide participants through the novel food application procedure, sharing key information, practical tips on how to avoid common mistakes, and best practices for preparing their applications. The presentation will also highlight the support initiatives available to applicants and SMEs throughout the process.
