Dr Masami Takeuchi is a Food Safety Officer at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), providing various food safety scientific advice to countries and to the Codex Alimentarius Commission, an international food standard setting body. Her main responsibility lies on food safety risk assessment that deals with emerging issues & technologies (biotechnology, cell-based food, gene editing, genome sequencing, precision fermentation and so forth) and cross-cutting issues. While she takes up various normative global initiatives on food safety, she also assists countries and regions for their food safety capacity development.
