Pieter joined DSM Venturing as Managing Director in 2012, which became dsm-firmenich Venturing in May 2023. He built a world-class team in the US and Europe which invested in 55+ startups since then. This set the stage for a multitude of strategic agreements with dsm-firmenich’s businesses, enabling them to gain early access and experience in new areas, and meanwhile realing healthy investment returns on portfolio exits. Pieter has extensive hands-on startup operator and board experience. He currently serves on the boards of Vivici, Hologram, Miach Orthopeadics, DSM PPE Plus and MassChallenge Switzerland. Before dsm-firmenich Venturing he was co-founder/CEO of OrthAlign (privately owned, 2008-2011) and IsoTis (ISOT, acquired by Integra Life Sciences) (1997-2007) in California. Pieter’s early professional years were in international M&A, investment management and transaction advisory. He holds a masters in law from Leiden University, NL. Pieter works and lives in the US since 2004, and this summers relocates to Switzerland to further advance the impact of dsm-firmenich and Venturing globally.
